Talent Partner

Permanent employee, Full-time · London

Your mission
As our first People hire at Heat Geek, you'll take ownership of all things Talent and HR as we enter the next exciting chapters of our growth. Your mission will be to ensure we attract and hire the UK’s best talent, in order for us to scale quickly, but thoughtfully and with great purpose. You’ll also play a leading role in building the foundations of our Talent and Cultural infrastructure to pave the way for years of ambitious but sustainable growth to come.

What will the role look like?

You’ll inherit our Talent efforts, as we look to transition from our Founder-led recruiting approach towards a more scalable and efficient way of building a world class team for the long term. You’ll be incredibly hands-on and cover multiple areas of the business, starting with owning talent sourcing and owning the full recruitment life cycle, through to blueprinting what our HR policies will look like relevant to L&D, values & culture and building business in overseas territories.

You’ll partner closely with hiring managers, providing expert advice and talent market insights as we scope our ideal candidate profiles and build out our future headcount plans. You’ll also be our go-to internal expert for candidate referrals, employer branding and the ongoing management (and iteration) of our HR systems (such as Personio). As a key part of our leadership team, you’ll lead the initiatives of organising creative projects relating to scaling and positively evolving our culture as we grow.
Your profile
We think you'd be great for this role if...
  • You have 5+ years recruiting for high-growth (ideally early stage, Seed-Series C)
businesses, with most of that time working as part of an in-house talent team

  • You’ve been part of a tier 1 start-up backed by serious investors and you have the
    network to show it

  • You have hired extensively for both technical and non-technical roles, ideally across
    a range of seniority levels

  • You understand how to build thorough, trusting and successful partnerships with
    Senior Executives

  • You have proven experience being part of role-scoping discussions and know how to
    effectively push back when necessary

  • You’re fluent in the modern recruiter’s toolkit, with deep proven experience with the
‘basics’ and ideally take a forward-thinking approach on how to leverage cutting edge
Talent Tech and sensibly applied AI to supercharge your day-to-day

  • You have the ability and willingness to sell to the outside world a mission and product
that you strongly believe in, given you’ll be the first face people interested in the
    company will see

  • You have an understanding and experience in putting together growth strategies,
both in terms of people count and infrastructure

  • L&D, appraisals, performance reviews, perks & benefits, employer branding,
employee engagement and HR operations are all familiar words in your vocabulary

  • Ideally you have worked with multi-location teams, helping to internationalise a
company when it comes to legislation and regulations

  • The prospect of becoming a C-suite leader is something you aim to achieve in your
    career

  • You’re someone who’s confident and comfortable in their own skin, ready to join a
    group of enthusiastic people

  • Climate change is on your radar and working on a product that helps combat it is
    high on your priority list

  • You’ve used (or are excited to use) organic techniques to source talent that isn’t looking… such as hackathons, meet-ups, community events and more.

If you're on the fence about applying...

Research shows that men apply to jobs if they meet ~60% of criteria, but women and those in traditionally underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they check all the boxes. If you think you have what it takes but don't meet every single point above, please still get in touch. We'd love to chat and see if you could be a great fit.

About us

At Heat Geek (formerly skoon), we are empowering people to revolutionise home energy at nation scale. This audacious goal will enable our contribution to drastically reduce the carbon emissions from the residential buildings sector, which accounts for nearly 20% of all UK emissions.

Our work requires focus, tenacity, innovation and teamwork. It requires dedication and commitment and daily energy to pursue the mission. It also requires us to support each other, seek help when we need it and live all the values of our company, not just those related to our role’s contribution.

As a result, we will build incredible products for our users, grow as individuals and change the zeitgeist around energy in our homes. We are a mission-driven organisation and everything we do aligns to this goal.
