Your mission

Join the Team Powering the UK’s Clean Heat Revolution

Heat Geek is the most trusted voice in home heating and we’ve earned that title by being part of the industry. We don’t talk at heating engineers, we speak as them. Through our hugely successful YouTube channel, we’ve educated millions, sparked change across the sector and built a rocketship of a business in the process.
Now, we’re building our in-house video team to take things to the next level.

We’re a fast-growing startup with serious traction. Our YouTube-first content engine has driven explosive growth but we’ve been doing it all through outsourced production. It’s time to change that. We want full control over our creative output, our brand and our story. This team will be the voice, tone and visual style of Heat Geek across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, our website and beyond.

If you’re excited by meaningful storytelling, clean energy and building something genuinely game-changing – this is your chance to get in early and shape the next chapter.
Your profile
Overview:
This is the role where your animations make the difference between “wait, what?” and “oh, I understand.” You’ll take complex (or seemingly boring topics), and turn them into visuals that make people care. At Heat Geek, animation is how we communicate with our customers; our content lives at the intersection of education and entertainment and your motion design will be at the heart of it.

You’ll own the animated layer of our video content, from theory explainers to product intros, and also work across our digital estate to ensure brand consistency across our website and online assets. Video is one of our most powerful growth channels and sits at the heart of the business. If you love the idea of delivering content powering one of the UK’s fastest-growing clean energy startups, this is your role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create motion graphics and animated explainers that will be embedded in our YouTube videos
  • Build branded transitions, lower-thirds, and overlays for video content
  • Design infographics, illustrations and visual assets for the website and campaigns
  • Maintain a scalable, consistent visual style across all digital platforms
  • Work closely with Producer and Editor to integrate animation into each project
Outputs You’ll Produce:
  • Animated diagrams and visual aids (for heat pumps, installs, theory explainers)
  • Brand-aligned motion assets for YouTube
  • Shortform animation for social (Reels, TikTok)
  • Visual content for Heat Geek.com and learning platforms
Skills & Experience:
  • Advanced in After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Experience creating animations for YouTube, web, and social
  • Strong sense of timing, typography, and brand design
  • Bonus: experience of editing

About us

At Heat Geek (formerly skoon), we are empowering people to revolutionise home energy at nation scale. This audacious goal will enable our contribution to drastically reduce the carbon emissions from the residential buildings sector, which accounts for nearly 20% of all UK emissions.

Our work requires focus, tenacity, innovation and teamwork. It requires dedication and commitment and daily energy to pursue the mission. It also requires us to support each other, seek help when we need it and live all the values of our company, not just those related to our role’s contribution.

As a result, we will build incredible products for our users, grow as individuals and change the zeitgeist around energy in our homes. We are a mission-driven organisation and everything we do aligns to this goal. It’s important to us that our team reflects a passion for this mission and a vision of a carbon free world where Climate Change has been stopped in it’s tracks.
